Clinic Winter Season Operations 2023/24

During the coming winter season, there are a few things we need to be aware of regarding snow storms and the flu/RSV/cold/COVID situation.

As Queen Street is not one of the important roadways in Bridgewater, we usually are a little later having the street and sidewalks cleared than the more trafficked areas. When we are the recipients of a snow storm, all appointments will be cancelled and I will notify all affected clients by either phone call, text, or email.

Hazardous Road Conditions
If the weather is such that driving may be hazardous, I would prefer you cancel your appointment rather than risk the hazardous road conditions. In this situation I would appreciate a phone call or text (902 514-3459) to inform me of your intention to either attend your appointment, or cancel and re-schedule.

Flu Symptoms

COVID-19 and the flu can have similar symptoms.
If you develop any of the symptoms below, follow the same precautions taken for COVID-19.

Flu symptoms may vary from person to person. Some people only get mildly ill. Others get very sick.

Flu symptoms appear 1 to 4 days after exposure to the virus. Usually they include the sudden appearance of:

  • fever
  • cough
  • muscle aches and pain

Other common symptoms may include:

  • headache
  • chills
  • fatigue (tiredness)
  • loss of appetite
  • sore throat
  • runny or stuffy nose

Some people (especially children) may also have:

  • diarrhea
  • nausea and vomiting
Cold Symptoms

Symptoms of a common cold usually appear one to three days after exposure to a cold-causing virus. Signs and symptoms, which can vary from person to person, might include:

  • Runny or stuffy nose
  • Sore throat
  • Cough
  • Congestion
  • Slight body aches or a mild headache
  • Sneezing
  • Low-grade fever
  • Generally feeling unwell
Symptoms of RSV (respiratory syncytial virus)

Symptoms of RSV can take two to eight days after the virus enters your body to appear. They can show up in stages rather than all at once. The main symptoms of RSV include:

  • Coughing.
  • Runny nose.
  • Sneezing.
  • Wheezing.
  • Fever.

Symptoms of RSV can affect age groups differently.

COVID Symptoms

(for more information, click here.)
Signs and symptoms of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) may appear 2 to 14 days after exposure. This time after exposure and before having symptoms is called the incubation period. You can still spread COVID-19 before you have symptoms (presymptomatic transmission). Common signs and symptoms can include:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Tiredness

Early symptoms of COVID-19 may include a loss of taste or smell.

Other symptoms can include:

  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Muscle aches
  • Chills
  • Sore throat
  • Runny nose
  • Headache
  • Chest pain
  • Pink eye (conjunctivitis)
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Rash

This list isn’t complete. Children have similar symptoms to adults and generally have mild illness.

The severity of COVID-19 symptoms can range from very mild to severe. Some people may have only a few symptoms. Some people may have no symptoms at all, but can still spread it (asymptomatic transmission). Some people may experience worsened symptoms, such as worsened shortness of breath and pneumonia, about a week after symptoms start.
